Overall

Arizona State is a great school that does not get the credit it deserves. Its academic programs are very strong and are filled with professors who actually care about the success of their students. Additionally, there are a ton of opportunities for undergraduate research, even as a freshman. Arizona State also provides a fun atmosphere filled with tons of people, which makes it easy to find people with similar interests and passions. Since ASU is such a large university, it is very important to find something to get involved in. Whether it be a club, student government, sports, or Greek life, get involved!!! This will make the large university feel smaller and allow you to meet others with similar interests. For me, joining Greek life was one of the best decisions I made as a freshman. I have met so many amazing people and have been given so many opportunities through my sorority. As an out of state student I did not know anyone going into the school year but through Greek life I made tons of new friends whom I would not have met otherwise.

Academics

The classes at Arizona State can be challenging, depending on the class and the professor. However, you can be assured that the professor cares about your success and will be willing to help if you ask. This is especially helpful in some of the larger sized classes that can have 200-300 students. In the honors college, honors-only sections are capped at 20-30 students, which allows students to really get to know their professors. Overall, the workload is manageable though some classes are significantly more work than others.

College Life

It seems that there is always something going on at ASU every day of the week. Residential life has many activities planned throughout the semester and different clubs are always hosting different events. The light-rail provides convenient transportation if you want to go downtown on the weekends, even though there are a ton of things to do around Tempe every weekend. There are a ton of different clubs at ASU that represent a variety of interests. If somehow you cannot find a club to suit your interests, start your own!! Athletics are a big deal at ASU and everyone enjoys going out to support the teams, especially when playing U of A. It is really incredible to see everyone's school spirit at these different events. Generally, I feel pretty safe walking around campus. However, I would not advise walking around at night by yourself, especially in the parking garages as there have been some incidents reported. If in doubt, give security escort a call and they will come pick you up and drive you to your residence hall.

You can obtain a phenomenal education from this school. Unlike small private schools, a solid educational plan will not be laid out for you. Having to design your own plan is a far better experience.

Academics

Classes and professors are excellent, especially in the honors college. Do research regarding who the best professors and classes are before enrolling in your courses. At this "American University," You have the opportunity to create your own educational experience.

College Life

ASU has one of the best social atmospheres of any University. Hundreds of clubs and student organizations make campus life ridiculously fun. Make sure to get involved in some sort of activity, and to try new things.

Overall

Arizona State University is HUGE. I love this about ASU because it allows everyone to create their own community. By being involved in your residence hall, a club, or a sport (whether NCAA, club, or intramural), you can easily form your own community around you that feels small but you still have all the advantages of a large university.

Academics

I find all of my classes at ASU appropriately challenging and I find my professors to be knowledgeable and passionate. While some general education classes at ASU are large lectures (200-400+ students), not all classes are that size. Some classes are capped at only 19 students and others at 35. Either way, if a class is offered as a large lecture, there is almost always some form of break-out session that allows for one-on-one time with the professor or a graduate TA.

College Life

ASU's student life is what you make of it. There are over 800 clubs, ranging from major-related organizations to taco eating clubs. There is a club here for everyone. ASU has very competitive intramural teams and plenty of opportunities to be involved in sports through the Student Recreation Complex. Campus safety includes a safety shuttle that transports students across campus for free after dark. In addition, the Memorial Union has The MU After Dark every weekend with different partying-alternative activities.

Overall

Most memorable are the life long friends made. live close to campus because the parking was distant at best. And wear sunscreen! The campus is really diverse both socially and facility wise. Make sure to explor all the buildings and see what there is to offer.

Academics

I was in the college of architecture. It had a diverse academic, pragmatic and theoretical curriculum as well as pool of professors. Encouraged team work and personal exploration. Great bonding with student body in the college due to extreme work hours.

College Life

As for the student life, ASU is somewhat of a party school. Although the qrchitectural students didnt seem to get too involved outside thier oown college except for sporting or other arts on campus. Lots to do in the immediate area and beyond. Hot in the summer though!

Overall

Arizona State was the complete, 360 degree college experience. Between the sports programs, campus activities, academics and social experiences, I can't remember a day when I wasn't happy I made the choice to go there. The students were very friendly and outgoing...made some of my best friends attending that school.

Academics

Arizona State is a perfect blend of tough academics for those who want it, and less hectic classes for those who need it. Recently ASU's academic strengths has become more prevalent, having a top tier business school. The workload, class size and professors are all very manageable and can accomadate and students lifestyle habits.

College Life

The lifestyle in and around ASU is what makes it a great place to spend 4 years. It has top sports programs that compete at the highest levels, making weekend games an amazing atmosphere for any student with school spirit. The campus is surrounded by metropolitan Phoenix and Scottsdale...with an endless supply of great restaurants, bars, clubs, and anything else you can think of to spend your time.

Overall

The Design School at ASU is a great program. The curriculum and workload is quite intense, but it focused my education and prepared me for a professional career post-graduation. I had several favorite instructors at the school, many of whom I remain in touch with.

Academics

The class size is small for my program, but the workload is focused and intense. It was rigorous, but very much worth the effort.

College Life

Most of my time was spent around the design school, so I don't have much to say as far as clubs or social atmosphere. The campus always seemed relatively safe enough, which was important for a young, single female walking around at night.
