About Spelman College

Continuing on a trajectory of excellence, Spelman College, located in suburban Atlanta, Georgia is a historically black college for women committed to developing leaders who serve.

Spelman offers over 45 majors and minors, and will both tailor a program to meet your needs and partner with other Atlanta universities to help round out your chosen program.

Programs such as the African Diaspora, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Child Development, Drama and Dance, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, International Studies, Religion and World Languages are just some of the majors available to Spelman students.

Athletics play an important part in the campus life at Spelman and basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis are just a few of the sports available to Spelman women.

Students are encouraged to study abroad to appreciate the multicultural aspects of the world, but there are also exchange programs within the United States.

Spelman encourages its students to participate in various enrichment programs to broaden their educational experience and develop the total person. The enrichment programs have emphasis in health careers, Japanese studies, an honors program that promotes mentoring with faculty members, research opportunities and to broaden the pool of science, and engineering and technical fields.

The historic campus, dating back to 1883, consists of dozens of buildings, including Sisters Chapel, Giles Hall, Packard Hall, Rockefeller Hall, Reynolds Cottage, the Camille O. Hanks Cosby Academic Center and a new Science Center. Housing residencies are available and students are required to live on campus during their first two years of college.

I am truly enjoying my college years at Spelman. It is everything I ever imagined and more. The teachers and faculty push us toward greatness and that is somthing I need in order to make it to the next level in my accademic career.
