Reviews for Hudson County Community College
Overall this school is a good school. Though it doesn't have a campus feel, it makes up in convience. With its fast food spots to get a bite to eat during breaks and stores to buy anything from school supplies to clothes in between classes. I loved that it's rig next to the bus terminal and train station so you can live anywhere and be able to get to your class fast. Teachers here are very diverse just like the student body and school resources personnel so no matter what language you speak fluently I'm sure a staff or student could help you. If your interested in coming to his school my advice is to do everything early like scheduling classes, purchasing books and especially applying for financial aid.
I can't speak for others but I'm enrolled in my school RN program and the nursing classes are held at another location. However the prerequisites I have taken was conveniently located around jersey city by the main campus and even in the local high schools closer to me. The professors help you to make sure you understand and become the best professional in your field you can be. The workload is doable and the class sizes are usually no more than 25 people a class.
Campus Facilities & Safety
The atmosphere is very city like because it's in the heart of Jersey City. The facilities are conveniently located however there is no parking lot so it's better if you don't drive unless you enjoy looking for parking, however there are street parking and Parking around the school that's not affiliated with the school. Also there's always taking the bus or train which in my opinion is best to getting to this school. The computer lab is always quiet and open early at 7am and closed late. There are many different organizations to join and if you don't see one that interest you can always create your own with the schools help of course. Campus safety is one of the most important factor at this school and in each building no person without a school I.D.
I only realized how great this college is until I transfer to a different community college, I noticed the contrast in the first semester and I can tell for sure I wish I could go to Hudson. HCCC is great because it really focus on the student's development and learning. I found the best professors in there, always whiling to help and they are passionate about teaching. The classes schedules are very flexible with weekend classes. It is a very diverse campus and very laid back.
I had classes on weekends and online, both very organized and structured in a manner that makes it easy for the student to follow the program. Professor Brian Lorio (English department) is simply the best you can ever have, I had other great professors for English and Art as well. Online is very organized (different from the college I study now.)
Campus Facilities & Safety
The campus atmosphere is ok not wonderful but we go to college to learn and the computer lab is good, parking is not good at all, there is no parking, campus safety is not great neither.
