Buffalo, NY

Townhouses and downtown Buffalo New York USA

Buffalo is the second-biggest city in New York State but is still about 1/30th the size of New York City. This can be alluring to many, as are several other parts of this city by the lake.

In the winter it does, indeed, get a lot of snow, but there are several ski resorts and other places to explore if you don’t mind bundling up when you go looking for adventure. The colleges in the town are very passionate about their sports, as are fans of the NFL and NHL teams that call Buffalo home.

In the summer, upstate New York is absolutely beautiful, and there are more lakes within a weekend’s drive of Buffalo than you could explore over the course of a 4-year college career in Buffalo, New York.

In contrast to New York City, Buffalo’s college students like that there are several ways to have a good time on a budget in Buffalo. Bars are open until 4 a.m., which also doesn’t upset too many college students who are old enough to go out and about when they don’t have exams in the morning.

Healthy food options are also aplenty in this city whose surrounding rural areas and small towns might not be as specialty-diet-friendly. It’s also considered a place with a great mix of fun for all ages, meaning there are plenty of things to do when your parents come to town (Check out the Albright-Knox Art Gallery!).
