Louisiana, the Pelican State, is home to eight private colleges and universities, three private liberal arts colleges, twenty public colleges and universities, and nine community colleges. Louisiana Board of Regents oversees the 24 accredited institutions in addition to a variety of subject focused national and international accreditation agencies. The Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges & Universities manages the undergraduate research, corporate, and foundation scholarship programs for private colleges and universities. The University of Louisiana System offers over 600 academic degree programs.

Centenary College of Louisiana, Louisiana State University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Xavier University of Louisiana are ranked by a nationally recognized college review as among the Best Southeastern Colleges. US News & World Report list of America’s Best Colleges has ranked Tulane University on their list of Top Schools.
