Popular Minnesota Scholarships

The Achieve Scholarship is a good source of Minnesota financial aid. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education awards 3,000 of these state-funded scholarships per year on average. The award amount varies between about $1,200 and $4,000.

The Office of Higher of Education also funds the Minnesota State Grant. This grant is even more abundant than the Achieve Scholarship; an average of 85,000 are awarded per year.

A number of popular Minnesota scholarships are reserved for students with particular needs. For example, the $2,000 Post-Secondary Child Care Grant is designed for parents of children aged 12 years or younger who demonstrate financial need.

Applying for Minnesota Scholarships

Scholarships from the Minnesota Office of Higher Education have a rather late application deadline, 30 days after the start of the term. Most other Minnesota scholarships have deadlines in December, February or April.

While most state-funded scholarships are for Minnesota residents, out-of-state students can apply for several institutional scholarships. Bethel University, for example, reserves the Travel Scholarship for students from the other 49 states or Canada.
