Ohio Scholarships

With more than 100 colleges and universities, Ohio offers more than 100 ways to reach your educational goals. Will you join the ranks of the Buckeyes at Ohio State, become a part of Oberlin College’s progressive tradition, or attend one of the state’s many community and technical colleges?

Regardless of which path you choose, cost of tuition doesn’t have to discourage you. Financial aid is plentiful in Ohio, and scholarships can help lessen the burden of tuition. You can find a full list of Ohio scholarships in our scholarship directory.

Popular Ohio Scholarships

The Ohio Board of Regents funds a variety of grants for needy Ohio students. For example, the Ohio War Orphans Scholarship and Ohio Safety Officers College Memorial Fund provide assistance for students whose parents were killed in the line of duty.

Nonprofit organizations are also a good source for Ohio scholarships. One such organization is 50 Men & Women of Toledo, which offers scholarships for minority students from the Toledo area. These include the John A. Anderson Scholarship, the Dr. Kay Meadows Scholarship and the James C. Caldwell Scholarship, to name a few.

Of course, Ohio colleges provide many scholarship opportunities, as well. The University of Toledo funds programs like Project Succeed and the Robert F. Cavalear Scholarship. Denison University also offers extensive financial aid, including the full-tuition Shackelford Scholarship.

Applying for Ohio Scholarships

As you search for Ohio scholarships, don’t forget to look locally. Many community organizations throughout the state are committed to assisting students from their town or county. An example of this is the Myron and Ellnor A. Kolbe Scholarship, which is reserved for students from Lorain County.
