Scholarships for Hispanics
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Overview: The Hispanic Scholarship Fund was founded in 1975 and has since awarded over $330 million in scholarships to students. Scholarships are available for students at every educational level from high school through graduate programs.
Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are US Citizens, Permanent Residents or Refugees of Hispanic descent. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA or have received a GED and are enrolled full-time at an accredited institute of higher learning.
- Hispanic College Fund (HCF) Scholarships
Award: $500 to $10,000
Overview: The College and Career Institute and HCF provide financial, social and career support. Awarded students will receive scholarships along with advisory phone calls and online support seminars.
Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are US Citizens or Permanent Residents or have graduated high school after having attended at least three years. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, plan to enroll full-time at an accredited institute of higher learning in the US or Puerto Rico and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must agree to participate in all the program offers including the online support seminars mentioned above.
- Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)/HACER
Overview: In addition to other scholarships and scholarships for minorities, RMHC has a scholarship specifically focused on assisting Latino students pay for college. Since 1985, more than $44 million in scholarships have been awarded.
Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are legal US Residents who are high school seniors under 21 years old preparing to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year university, college or technical school full-time. Students must live in a location with a participating RMHC chapter and will have to provide proof of enrollment.
- Adelante! Fund Scholarships
Award: $1,000 to $3,000
Overview: The Adelante! Fund vision is solely to increase the number of college-graduated Hispanics in the US. Adelante! partners with other companies to provide access to several different scholarships. There are scholarships for Hispanics who are incoming college students all the way up to college seniors. They also provide internships to students.
Requirements/Eligibility: Requirements vary depending on the scholarship, but all eligible applicants must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of Hispanic descent and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Letters of recommendation and community service may be required for certain scholarships.
