Always take standardized tests as early as possible, just in case something happens and you need to change dates or retake the test.

Coordinate your registration and studying for the SAT, ACT and SAT subject test.

We’ve talked about standardized testing before, and chances are you’ve already taken most of the tests you need. But many students (we will call them procrastinators) wait until the last chance possible to take these tests.

Perhaps they aren’t completely sure they want to go to college, or maybe they are confused as to which test they should take. Still more need to retake the SAT or ACT in hopes that their scores improve. No matter what the reason, the first semester of your senior year is your last chance to take these integral tests for fall admissions.

If you’re planning on an early action or early decision, you need to take the October SAT or ACT. This will ensure that your scores are reported by the due date, which is usually mid November.

October is the most popular time for students to take the ACT or SAT in general, because it gives students the most wiggle room. If Penny Pendergast takes the SAT in October and doesn’t do as well as she had hoped, she still has time to take it again before scores, transcripts, and applications are due into colleges.

Don't forget to register for the SAT at CollegeBoard.com or visit the ACT registration at ACTstudent.org.
